How to Catch Animals in Rope an Animal
Catch animals in Rope an Animal by getting into rope range, escaping the Guardian, and placing each successful catch at your base.
Catching an animal takes two parts: lasso it up close, then ride it to safety before the Guardian catches you. The second part matters as much as the first. Once home, put the animal down at your base so it can add to your money-per-second income.

A simple catch route
- Pick a reachable target. Get near enough for the short-range rope to connect. If the target is in a farther area, check that you can reach it and make the return trip.
- Look for a way home. A Guardian can chase you as soon as you rope an animal. Notice obstacles and other players before committing.
- Lasso and ride. Follow the game's official instruction: ride the animal to safety before the Guardian catches you. Stay mounted through the chase.
- Place the animal at your base. A recorded player put down a catch and saw their money-per-second income rise.
If the catch fails
The rope misses: move closer. One player could not reach a goat from farther away, and no exact maximum lasso distance is published.
The chase is too fast: train Speed on the treadmill, then try a target in an area you can escape. Riding a faster animal also helped one player pull away from an elephant Guardian, but there is no fixed Speed value that guarantees success.
You lose control on the way back: stay mounted and choose a cleaner route. An accidental dismount spoiled one recorded attempt, and another ended with the Guardian closing in near safety.
If you see a rare animal hatch, the official game description says to rope it immediately. The same close-range catch and ride-home sequence still applies; no special rare-only controls have been confirmed.
